About The Workshop:
A small group of 7-8 adults, meeting on Tuesday, November 12th from 4pm to 8pm. The workshop is designed to help elevate your experience with songwriting at whatever stage you may be. Any style of writing is welcomed. We will touch on everything from lyrical content to song arrangement. The first 30 minutes of the workshop will be dedicated to vocal exercises and then over the next 3+ hours, each singer gets about 15-20 minutes to work on individualized coaching in front of the group. You are welcome to bring in your own material that you may need help with. The workshops are an incredibly safe and supportive environment for people to explore their voice and connect with the music community in Los Angeles and I’m very excited for you to meet/work with one of my favorite songwriters in LA, Jess Best.
Meet Jess Best:
I'm an artist / songwriter currently based out of Los Angeles. Growing up I was always drawn to the arts, I wanted to do everything - singing, dancing, drawing, acting, painting. When I discovered songwriting it felt like it combined all those things. I first started writing songs early in high school when my voice teacher wisely urged me to expand my musical craft beyond singing. I remember sitting in the car with my mom as a 13 year old thinking, "what do I want to write about?" Since then, I can't stop asking that question and am grateful to have songwriting to forever keep me curious. I have my own artist project and release music under my name, and also work as a songwriter, often co-writing with other artists to support their vision. Most recently, I worked with LA based artist Malia to co-write her EP Ripe, in addition to releasing my own project Sincerely this past August <3
I am a singer/artist born and raised in Los Angeles, Ca. I started singing and writing music when I was 15 years old and started performing at a professional level when I was 18 years old. In high school, I attended the Music Academy at Hamilton High and later on graduated from the Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California. I currently release original music as an independent artist and have performed my music in front of thousands of fans all over. In the past, I have also sung with artists like Gwen Stefani, Anderson .Paak, Moby and many many more. For more music and information, check out my website www.Raquel.LA.
